FOUR
WALLS
FOUR WALLS
When it comes to this song … I just want it to be used to help the types of desperate situations that should never ever exist.
To quote Nelson Mandela: Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice.
Let’s be better, world
Kimberly Weston
He started with so little, he ended with not much
Bad days go a long way when your dollar’s not enough
So he packed his bag, rolled a joint, walked some lonely miles
Then closed his eyes on a bench outside … said this is home for a while.
His luck was thin, his health got worse
Days turned into weeks
The only thing he knew to do, was put himself to sleep
A needle in a haystack, were about his odds they’d say
So he settled in, to holding signs, saying “help me eat today”
When those desperate days, turn to desperate nights
When the stars outside, don’t shine as bright
With hopes and prayers, it’s still cold outside
A home could make it right.
I recognized his favorite hat now dark with dirt and grease
It held some change, the ones and fives, he got on rainy days
It’s rough out there, it’s hard inside
but what do I know … what do I know
When desperate days, turn to desperate nights
When the stars outside don’t shine as bright
With your hopes and prayers it’s still cold outside
A home could make it right
